Question 1

How does tool rental work in Toronto?

Accepted Answer

toolshare connects Toronto homeowners with neighbours who have tools available to rent. Browse listings, book online, pay securely, and pick up locally. No driving to a big-box store — borrow from someone nearby.

Question 2

What tools can I rent in Toronto, Ontario?

Accepted Answer

toolshare listings in and around Toronto include pressure washers, tile saws, drywall lifts, concrete mixers, carpet cleaners, floor sanders, scaffolding, and more — listed by neighbours at day rates typically 40–60% below big-box rental stores.

Question 3

Is there a damage deposit for tool rentals in Toronto?

Accepted Answer

Listers may set an optional security deposit, which is placed as an authorization hold on the renter's card at handoff — not at booking. The hold is released automatically when the rental ends with no damage claim. Renters can also add an optional damage waiver at checkout, contributing to a reserve fund that may help offset repair costs in case of accidental damage. It is not insurance.

Question 4

How much does it cost to rent tools from neighbours in Toronto?

Accepted Answer

Neighbour rental rates on toolshare are typically 40–60% below Home Depot or Canadian Tire rental prices. Common rates in the Toronto area: pressure washer $25–$45/day, tile saw $35–$55/day, carpet cleaner $30–$50/day, drywall lift $45–$65/day.
